Same-Day Tags: What to Bring

Want to walk out with your new tags the same day? The single biggest factor is having the right documents with you when you arrive. Here's a general checklist — call ahead if you're not sure something applies to your situation.

For a new title or transfer

• Valid government-issued photo ID
• Existing title, properly signed over (or Manufacturer's Certificate of Origin for a new vehicle)
• Bill of sale, notarized if the vehicle is less than 7 years old
• Proof of Maryland insurance
• Payment for applicable excise tax and fees

For a registration renewal

• Current registration card or renewal notice
• Valid ID
• Proof of current Maryland insurance
